Youth Educator
POSITION
Standing Together to End Sexual Assault (STESA) is looking for an energetic Youth Educator to conduct classroom instruction focusing on the prevention of sexual assault at local middle, junior high, high schools and youth-serving organizations. The candidate will develop professional relationships with school personnel, parents and other key stakeholders. The Youth Educator works with students to plan events and activities to increase awareness about sexual assault prevention and develops appropriate messaging. The candidate is a self-starter, and empathetic individual with the ability to work with a diversity of students, staff, volunteers, and community. Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt
Salary: $24.00/hour

Example of duties and responsibilities
1. Facilitates overall development and coordination of a comprehensive sexual assault prevention and education plan at local middle, junior high, high schools, and youth-serving organizations.
2. Conducts classroom instruction utilizing a selected curriculum for middle, junior high, and high school students.
3. Plans for school-wide events and activities related to the sexual assault prevention program targeting middle, junior high and high school students.
4. Participates in the school’s committees to leverage resources and promote sexual assault prevention activities. Works collaboratively with school officials.
5. Engage with students to assist with the programming.
6. Provides middle, junior high and high school students with information about school and community resources.
7. Responsible for data entry and reporting on progress and outcomes. Working knowledge of statistics and statistical gathering methods.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, social work, social science or related field is required.
2. Excellent public speaking and written communication skills.
3. Excellent public speaking and public relations skills. Considerable use of tact, diplomacy, discretion and judgment.
4. Experience coordinating educational programs or community-based services.
5. Experience in conducting trainings or facilitating groups.
6. Knowledge of issues pertinent to marginalized communities. Experience in developing educational programs that address the needs of these communities.
7. Ability to work well and effectively engage with youth.
8. Working knowledge of and sensitivity to issues related to sexual assault and trauma informed practices.
9. Contribute to an atmosphere of teamwork, mutual respect and empowerment among staff and volunteers.
10. Experience in working effectively with staff, volunteers and school personnel of diverse political, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Ability to communicate effectively with them in person and over the telephone.
11. Well organized with excellent skills in time management and attention to detail.
12. Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office.
13. Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and reliable transportation. Ability to drive safely and in compliance with all applicable laws while on STESA business.
